Dandyel

Dandyel formed in Mexico in the early 2000s with Karina Reyes on vocals, Esteban Muriel on guitar, Gabriel Orozco on bass, and Ignacio Mendoza on drums. They started playing small venues and local festivals before releasing their debut album in 2006. That album's title track, "¿Quien te hizo llorar?", became an immediate hit with its straightforward take on heartbreak.

Over the next several years, they put out albums like "Más Allá" in 2008, "Respira" in 2010, and "El Origen" in 2012. Songs like "Te Extraño" and "No Puedo Sacarte de Mi Mente" kept their sound rooted in emotional ballads that connected with listeners across Mexico. Their live shows were known for their energy.

Reyes's stage presence and views on social issues sometimes drew attention beyond the music. In 2012, the band had to cancel a concert following protests from conservative groups. They continued recording, releasing "Renacer" in 2015, and maintained a following through their direct approach to songwriting.
