Daniel Abreu

Daniel Abreu comes from Patos in Paraíba, a town in northeastern Brazil where forró and baião rhythms are part of the local sound. He started playing accordion early, drawn to those traditional styles. His debut album in 2009 was called 'Baião da Cabra,' and the title track became his signature piece.

That song 'Baião da Cabra' mixes traditional baião with more contemporary touches, built around his accordion work and vocal delivery. It caught on nationally and defined his approach. Other songs like 'Cadê O Tintenor?' and 'Diz A Velha!' follow a similar energetic, rhythm-driven template.

He's put out five albums since that debut, including 'Mundo Cabra' in 2011 and 'A Estrada' in 2018. Some listeners and critics have questioned whether his music respects or simply repackages traditional forms, though Abreu has described his work as an homage to his roots.
