His debut album, also called "Arco-Íris de Fogo," came out in 1985. He later released other albums including "Terra de Luz" in 1989, "Retratos da Alma" in 1993, and "Além do Horizonte" in 1999.
Barthes worked with musicians like guitarist Fernando Silveira, bassist Luizão Maia, drummer Celso Ponte, and percussionist Beto Lima. He also collaborated with artists including Chico Buarque, Milton Nascimento, and Caetano Veloso.
