Daniel De Olive

Daniel de Olive is a singer from Beja, born in 1978. He started with a debut album called Tempestade Silenciosa in 2002, but it was his 2005 album As Dunas Se Movem No Século that really put him on the map. The title track from that album, along with songs like Caminhando Ao Infinito and Contratos Casuais, became some of his most recognized work.

His music draws from traditional Portuguese folk sounds, giving it a grounded, familiar feel even when he's exploring bigger themes. In 2010, there was some talk about whether he'd borrowed melodies from older folk songs without credit, which stirred things up a bit around his name.

He kept putting out albums after that, like Mar de Dentro in 2009 and Canções de Amo later on. The songs have a way of sticking with you, simple and direct, without trying too hard to be profound.
