A Portuguese band that blended traditional fado with alternative rock, drawing inspiration from writer Fernando Pessoa.
For their sound, start with "Desassossego." For something a little different, try "2000 Km."
They took fado out of its traditional box without losing its melancholic heart. Songs like "Desassossego" carried that weight into new arrangements, and their frontman Nuno Saraiva openly cited Pessoa as an influence. That gave their music a literary texture you don't often find in rock.
They came out of Lisbon in 2008 with "Caminhos Secretos." Later records like "Monte Alentejano" and "Lisbon Calling" followed, and they kept working through some traditionalist criticism, releasing "Estrela Guia" in 2018.
Keep it compact: a lyric you come back to, a live memory, or the part of the catalog you would point someone toward first.
