Daniel J was a UK band that formed around Daniel Jones on vocals, Michael Blair on guitar, Paul Wright on bass, and Michael Hurst on drums. They worked with producer Martin Rushent on their self-titled debut album, which came out in 1981. The single 'A Girl Like You' from that album became a hit.
Their music included songs like 'Up All Night' and 'I Won't Let You Down.' Some listeners at the time felt their studio recordings sounded more polished than their earlier live shows, but they kept making music that connected with people.
They recorded other tracks like 'We Can't Stop' and 'Sing.' The band's story is mostly about that early period with Rushent and the album that contained 'A Girl Like You.'
