Daniel Rossen was born in Cincinnati, Ohio, in 1974. His father was a classical pianist, and early on he listened to the Beatles, Bob Dylan, and Neil Young. In 1999, he co-founded the indie folk band Grizzly Bear with Ed Droste, Chris Bear, and Chris Taylor. The band's 2009 album 'Veckatimest' received widespread praise for its lush harmonies and introspective lyrics.
Rossen released his solo debut album 'You Belong There' in 2018. The album explores themes of loss, memory, and the search for meaning. Its centerpiece track 'Golden Mile' became a haunting and poignant song that resonated with listeners. Other songs from his solo work include 'Saint Nothing' and 'Return To Form'.
He continues to work both as a solo artist and as a member of Grizzly Bear, maintaining a focus on atmospheric, experimental folk music with thoughtful lyrics.
