Daniel Wergan

Daniel Wergan grew up in Santos, Brazil, where his father played guitar and introduced him to folk music. As a teenager, he listened to Bob Dylan, Leonard Cohen, and Milton Nascimento. He moved to São Paulo after high school to pursue music, playing open mics and small venues before things shifted with the 2016 release of 'A Casa.' That song became a hit and brought him wider attention.

Since then, he has put out albums like 'Piano e Voz' in 2018, 'Ao Vivo no Circo Voador' in 2019, and 'Só Hoje' in 2022. His songs, including 'Abrigo,' 'Azul Violeta,' and 'Cuida de Mim,' are mostly acoustic ballads built around guitar and voice. He has worked with other Brazilian artists such as Ana Caetano, Emicida, and Marisa Monte.

Wergan performs live with a small band, guitar, bass, drums, keyboard, and those shows tend to be intimate. He has talked about dealing with anxiety and depression, and some of that feeling comes through in his writing. In 2019, another musician accused him of plagiarizing the melody for 'A Casa,' but the claim was later dismissed.
