Daniela Dancourt is a Peruvian singer from Lima. Her father was a musician who introduced her to Peruvian folklore when she was young. In 2003, she put out her first album, 'Solo Soy Una Mujer,' which mixed traditional Peruvian sounds with pop and soul.
A few years later, in 2007, she released 'Ojos Azules,' a ballad about lost love that became widely known in Peru. Some listeners connected it to political themes, though Dancourt has said the song isn't meant to be political. In 2018, she recorded a medley with fellow Peruvian singer Gianfranco Bustios that combined 'Ojos Azules' with 'Adiós pueblo de Ayacucho.'
