Archive material and source history
Danilo Morais is a Brazilian singer and guitarist from Rio de Janeiro. He started performing at local clubs and festivals before being signed by producer Marcus Vinicius. In 1995, his debut album 'De Janeiro a Janeiro' came out, with the title track becoming a hit.
That album mixed traditional samba rhythms with modern pop elements. Songs like 'Esperando Você' and 'Sinto Falta' showed his melodic approach. He has worked with artists including Milton Nascimento and Gilberto Gil.
Morais performed 'De Janeiro a Janeiro' at the 2006 FIFA World Cup opening ceremony in Germany. The performance drew some criticism about authenticity at the time. He has released about a dozen studio albums since then.
