Danny e David is a Brazilian duo from Rio de Janeiro. Their song 'Rio de água viva' became something of an anthem for the city, capturing its particular atmosphere in a way that resonated locally. They started working together in the early 2000s, drawn to bossa nova and similar styles.
Their debut album, also called 'Rio de Água Viva', came out in 2005. They followed it with records like 'Contigo' in 2008 and 'O Mundo dos Dois' in 2015. Other songs in their catalog include 'Pobre mendigo', 'Vasos de azeite', and 'Estrada empoeirada'.
Daniela Valença (Danny) handles vocals, and David Marçal (David) plays guitar and writes much of the material. In 2008, David was diagnosed with a rare blood disease, which presented a significant challenge, but the duo continued their work.
