Danny Wilson was a Scottish pop band from Dundee, formed in 1984. They're best known for the 1988 single 'Mary's Prayer,' a ballad that reached number one on the UK charts. The song's lyrics, hinting at a tragic love story, sparked some debate at the time, but it became their defining track. Their self-titled debut album came out that same year, followed by 'Second Summer' in 1990 and 'Love Crazy' in 1992.
Beyond 'Mary's Prayer,' their catalog includes songs like 'Aberdeen' and 'Charlie Boy,' which carried a similar melodic pop feel. The band featured Gary Clark on vocals and guitar, Ged Grimes on bass, and Kit Clark on drums. They released a compilation, 'The Danny Wilson Collection,' in 1998 before winding down.
Keep it compact: a lyric you come back to, a live memory, or the part of the catalog you would point someone toward first.
