DAPPER formed in São Paulo in 2016, with Gabriel Elias on vocals, Victor de Andrade on guitar, Douglas Moreira on bass, and Leandro Rodrigues on drums. Their debut single "Fugir de Mim" found some early traction, but it was 2018's "Chame o Steve" that really broke through. The song's title refers to their manager who had just left, and its catchy, danceable beat turned it into a national hit in Brazil.
They've released a handful of albums since then, including 2019's "Festa no Céu" and 2021's "Infinito." In 2019, they faced some noise about similarities between their song "Deixa Rolar" and another artist's work, but it didn't seem to slow them down much. The core lineup has stayed fairly consistent, with Elias, de Andrade, Moreira, and Rodrigues still playing together.
Keep it compact: a lyric you come back to, a live memory, or the part of the catalog you would point someone toward first.
