Dappled Cities

Dappled Cities formed in 2008 around Tim DeLaughter, who had previously been part of Tripping Daisy. They worked with bassist Matt Resovich and drummer David Sullivan. Their first album was called "Granddance," and they followed it with records like "Lighten Up" and "Two Arms."

Their music pulls from post-rock, ambient, and electronic textures, creating a sound that feels both spacious and detailed. Lyrically, they often touch on existential questions. In "Born At The Right Time," they sing about being "born at the right time / To see the end of the world / But we'll never see it coming."

While their approach has sometimes been described as avant-garde, they've kept making music on their own terms. Songs like "Run With The Wind" show how they balance atmosphere with melodic hooks, avoiding easy genre placement.
