Dara Sedaka was born in Brooklyn in 1933 and started piano lessons at five. He co-wrote his first hit, 'One Little Tear,' when he was thirteen. He worked with lyricist Howard Greenfield on songs like 'Calendar Girl' and 'Breaking Up Is Hard to Do.'
In the late 1960s, Sedaka felt out of step with psychedelic rock and shifted toward country music. His 1973 song 'Angel Queen' became a number-one hit. He also recorded 'Laughter In The Rain' as a duet with Neil Sedaka.
Sedaka's writing often dealt with straightforward pop themes. 'Just Say I Love You' is another example of his accessible style.
