Darius James formed in London in 2016 around vocalist Darius Jones and guitarist James Ryan. They later expanded to include bassist Emily Carter and drummer Jake Stevens. Their early work shows some influence from artists like Radiohead and Bob Dylan, though they developed their own approach.
Their song "Flower Pots" from 2016 gained attention for its atmospheric sound and thoughtful lyrics. They followed it with albums like Silent Symphony in 2018, Echoes of a Broken Heart in 2020, and The Garden of Sounds in 2022. Other tracks like "Keep On Running" and "By My Side" feature collaborations with Aaron Cole and John Givez.
In 2018, some critics questioned similarities in their debut album's melodies to other artists' work, but the band maintained their creative independence. They've continued making music that balances melodic accessibility with lyrical reflection.
Keep it compact: a lyric you come back to, a live memory, or the part of the catalog you would point someone toward first.
