Dark Mountain Group

Dark Mountain Group formed in 2008 around Elian Aeschlimann on vocals and guitar, Markus Suzan on guitar and vocals, and Michael Zennaro on bass. They released their debut album 'Leaving the Surface' in 2010, which established their atmospheric blend of ambient, folk, and post-rock. Their song 'Lose Control' became a notable track for listeners drawn to their introspective style.

Their music often polarized critics, with some finding it too ethereal while others praised its emotional depth. The band's stage presence, which sometimes included elaborate costumes and theatrical elements, also drew mixed reactions. They followed up with 'My Secret Heaven' in 2013 and 'Lost in the Wilderness' in 2016, which brought them wider recognition.

Aeschlimann's lyrics have occasionally touched on personal struggles with depression, giving their music a raw, confessional quality that resonated with certain listeners. The core trio remained stable through their releases, though they occasionally worked with guest musicians. Their sound incorporated elements from classical and electronic music as they developed.
