Darryl

Darryl formed in 2006 around singer-songwriter Darryl van der Werf, with guitarist Jordy Woudstra, bassist Bas van de Wetering, and drummer Nick van der Meulen. They put out their first album 'Voor Jou' the following year. The band's 2010 song 'Dichtbij' became their most recognizable track, connecting with listeners through its straightforward emotional pull.

That same lineup has stayed together through four studio albums, including 'De Tijd Staat Stil' in 2013 and 'Wij Zijn' in 2016. Their music tends toward direct, melodic songs like 'Eeyeeyo' and 'Voor Mijn Gappies' that work in a live setting. They've played festivals like Pinkpop, though a 2012 performance there drew some criticism over stage production choices.

Van der Werf has occasionally drawn attention for speaking his mind on topics outside of music. The band's catalog is built on that core four-piece sound, without much stylistic detour from the earnest, guitar-based approach they established early on.
