Darude

Darude is the Finnish electronic music producer Ville Virtanen. He's best known for the 1999 track "Sandstorm," an instrumental trance piece built around a simple, whistling synth melody and a driving beat that became a global phenomenon. The song's popularity was so immense that it often overshadowed his other work, like "Feel The Beat" and "Look Away."

He released albums like "Before the Storm" in 2000 and "Rush" in 2003, which explored different shades of trance and progressive house. The unauthorized use of "Sandstorm" in various contexts became a point of contention for him regarding artistic control.

Darude kept making music after that initial wave, with tracks such as "Next To You" and "Tear Apart" appearing in his catalog. The sheer scale of that one hit from 1999 defined his public profile more than anything else he did.
