Darwinson started playing in Rio de Janeiro in the early 2000s, drawing from samba and other Brazilian rhythms. Their song "A Barca" became a breakthrough hit that helped them reach a wider audience.
In 2005, the band had to deal with legal issues over a copyrighted melody, which led to re-recording an album and pausing live shows for a while. Their debut album was called "Ao Vivo no Morro do Chapéu Mangueira," and they later put out records like "Roda Viva" and "O Bom Samaritano."
Some of the people who have played in Darwinson include Marcelo D2 and Xande de Pilares on vocals, Magrão on guitar, Jorge Frajola on bass, and Serginho Procópio on drums. Other songs of theirs include "Menino do Sol," "Astro Rei," and "Efêmera Beleza."
Keep it compact: a lyric you come back to, a live memory, or the part of the catalog you would point someone toward first.
