Daryl Coley was born in Cincinnati in 1955. He started out singing with the gospel group The Caravans before going solo in the early 1980s. His first album, 'Just Daryl,' came out in 1984, but it was the follow-up a year later that really connected with people. That album was called 'For the Good of Them,' and its title track became one of his most recognizable songs.
Coley's music pulled from gospel, soul, and R&B. He recorded albums like 'Reunion' in 1987 and 'Heart of a Man' in 1990.
He worked with musicians like keyboardist John Hobbs, bassist David Stone, drummer Jerry Weaver, and guitarist Mark Baldwin. In the late 1990s, he put out a Christmas album called 'All I Really Want for Christmas.'
