Das Quebradas formed in 2007 in Rio de Janeiro with Roger Deff on vocals and guitar, Rodrigo Borges on bass, and Leandro Maia on drums. They released their first album Somos Quebradas in 2009, followed by O Som das Quebradas in 2013, Nação Zumbi in 2017, and Nós in 2020.
Their song Salomé e Pablito became a breakout single, with other tracks like Belo Horizonte and Ela Gosta de Dinheiro appearing in their catalog. The music often addresses social themes from their urban environment.
While their lyrics have drawn attention for commentary on issues like police and government, the band has maintained a following through their straightforward approach to songwriting. They work with a basic guitar-bass-drums setup that keeps the focus on their messages.
Keep it compact: a lyric you come back to, a live memory, or the part of the catalog you would point someone toward first.
