Dave Clark Five

The Dave Clark Five came out of Tottenham in North London in the early 1960s. They were part of the British Invasion wave, with Dave Clark on drums leading the group that included Mike Smith on vocals and guitar, Lenny Davidson on guitar, Dennis Payton on bass, and Rick Huxley on vocals and bass. Their 1963 debut single 'Glad All Over' became a number one hit in the UK, followed by other chart successes like 'Bits and Pieces' and 'Catch Us If You Can'.

Their energetic sound and stage presence earned them a dedicated following, sometimes called 'Clarkies.' The band's popularity crossed over to the United States and Canada, where they also had chart success. They recorded songs like 'Do You Love Me,' 'Can't You See That She's Mine,' and 'I Need You I Love You,' which became part of their catalog.

By the late 1960s, the lineup had changed with Payton leaving in 1965 and Huxley departing in 1967. The band continued recording into the early 1970s with songs like 'Nineteen Days,' but their commercial momentum slowed. They disbanded in 1975.
