Their sound developed from that lineup's particular chemistry, with Landau and Rude's guitar work weaving through Gottlieb's drumming and the bass lines of Johnson and Haslip.
Their debut album was called "Rudes Mood," and it presented their take on instrumental music that drew from jazz and rock. Songs like "Carry Me Home" and "Come Right In" became familiar pieces in their set, straightforward in structure but built on the interplay between the players.
They worked through the usual early struggles of finding gigs and keeping a band together, but kept at it long enough to put out more records. The music stayed instrumental and groove-oriented, with tracks like "Devil's Embrace" and "Fallin' Down" showing their range within that style.
