Dave Thomas Junior was born in Ohio in 1978 and grew up in a musical household. He started writing songs early, drawing from classic rock, folk, and soul influences. In 2006, he joined Justin Vernon and Sean Carey to form Bon Iver, contributing vocals and guitar to their debut album "For Emma, Forever Ago."
After working with Bon Iver, Thomas began releasing solo material. His 2012 album "Bad Love" included the song "I Can't Make You Love Me," which became one of his most recognized tracks. Other songs like "I Do," "Little Piece Of Nothing," and "If Things Had Gone Our Way" show his continued focus on personal, introspective writing.
He has released several solo albums including "Liminal" in 2018 and "Patterns" in 2021. His music tends to explore themes of relationships and emotional reflection through straightforward arrangements and direct lyrics.
Keep it compact: a lyric you come back to, a live memory, or the part of the catalog you would point someone toward first.
