Davids formed in São Paulo in the late 1990s as a Brazilian pop-rock band with samba touches. The original lineup included vocalist David Salles, keyboardist Rodrigo Magalhães, guitarist Fabio Fonseca, bassist Fabio Mendes, and drummer Cleverson Silva.
Their 2001 debut album 'Você É Meu Raio de Sol' gave them their breakthrough. The title track became a popular love song in Brazil, establishing their sound of melodic pop with emotional lyrics.
Bassist Fabio Mendes left in 2003, and the band continued releasing albums like 'Deixa Rolá' in 2005 and 'O Amor É Mais' in 2007. Keyboardist Rodrigo Magalhães departed in 2009, followed by guitarist Fabio Fonseca in 2012, with Cleverson Silva remaining as the drummer through these changes.
