Daylight Dies formed in 2005 with guitarist Barre Gambling, who had played with The Faceless and Veil of Maya. The lineup eventually included vocalist Nathan Ellis, bassist Egan O'Rourke, and drummer Jesse Haff. Their debut album 'Initiation' came out in 2006, followed by records like 'Lost to the Wild' and 'A Frail Becoming'.
Ellis left in 2011, and Keenan Royer joined as vocalist the next year. Some listeners questioned the change, but the band kept working. Songs like 'All We Had' and 'A Final Vestige' show their mix of heavy guitar work and melodic atmosphere.
They've stayed with that general approach, melodic death metal with keyboards and clean vocals woven into the aggression. Tracks such as 'In The Silence' and 'Lies That Bind' fit that description without needing much extra framing.
Keep it compact: a lyric you come back to, a live memory, or the part of the catalog you would point someone toward first.
