De Caos formed in Belo Horizonte during the 1980s, with Fernanda Takai handling vocals and lyrics. Their debut album "Doze Passos" came out in 1986, and they put out several more records through the early 1990s, including "Segundo Tempo" and "Nós Vamos Invadir Sua Praia." The band's sound pulled from punk and hardcore, with songs like "Babel" and "Hard City" carrying a raw, confrontational edge.
Takai's writing often dealt with social issues and personal struggle, which sometimes put the group at odds with authorities. They developed a following among listeners who connected with that direct approach. Other members included guitarist Kiko Zambianchi, bassist Marcelo Nova, and drummer Pedro Pelotas.
In 2007, De Caos recorded an acoustic session for MTV. Their music, particularly early material like "Doze Passos" and "O Vulto," remains a reference point for Brazilian punk from that period.
Keep it compact: a lyric you come back to, a live memory, or the part of the catalog you would point someone toward first.
