Archive material and source history
De Cuajo formed in Barcelona around 1998, with Francisco Contreras Molina, known as El Niño de Elche, as their frontman. Their music pulled from rumba, flamenco, and rock, and they put out their first album, 'Abro el Puerto,' in 2000. That record's title track, 'Abro El Puerto,' became one of their better-known songs.
A few concerts were canceled, and some of their words were censored. They kept recording through the 2000s, with albums like 'La Rabia y el Delirio' in 2003 and 'Cante de Esperanza' in 2006. Other songs from their catalog include 'Aterrizará' and 'Canción de Un Mundo Imaginario.'
The band's lineup included guitarist Josep Maria Ribelles, bassist Míriam García, drummer Moi Moya, and percussionist David F. Segura. They released another album, 'Fuerza y Honor,' in 2012.
