De Räuber formed in 1993 when five friends from the Bavarian village of Finsing started playing together. Their debut album 'Samba de Bandidos' came out in 1999, giving the band its first real break. They sing in Bavarian dialect, mixing folk with rock and Latin rhythms, using guitars, drums, accordion, and trumpet.
Their songs like 'Wer Nit Mih Bütz' and 'Alles Für Die Katz' have straightforward lyrics about everyday things, love, and sometimes rebellion. The band faced some criticism early on for their style and explicit words, but they kept playing their own way.
They've put out albums regularly since that first one, including 'Räuber Knechte' in 2001, 'Basta' in 2002, and more recent ones like 'Heimat' in 2019. The current members are Stefan Dettl on vocals, Sebastian Horn on guitar, Jürgen Hendlmeier on bass, Michael Kaufmann on drums, and Helmut Schleich on keyboards and accordion.
