The Dead Boys formed in New York City in 1975 with Stiv Bators on vocals, Cheetah Chrome and Jimmy Zero on guitars, Johnny Blitz on bass, and Gene O'Connor on drums. Their first album, 'Young, Loud and Snotty,' came out in 1977 and included songs like 'Sonic Reducer' and 'Ain't It Fun.' The band's live shows were known for being chaotic, with Bators sometimes cutting himself on stage and the police shutting down performances.

The Dead Boys broke up in 1979, though different members have played together occasionally since then under the name.
