Dead Poet Society formed in Melbourne in the early 2000s around frontman Sam Perry and guitarist Josh Lefers. Their debut album 'Into the Depths' came out in 2007, followed by 'Shepherd' in 2010 and 'Underneath the World' in 2014.
Songs like '.intoodeep.' and 'I Never Loved Myself Like I Loved You' show their tendency toward raw, introspective lyrics. Perry's vocals and Lefers' guitar work give the music a haunting quality that doesn't fit neatly into one genre.
They've had some lineup changes and financial struggles along the way, but kept making records. The band's sound evolved across those albums, moving between ethereal textures and more direct rock moments.
Keep it compact: a lyric you come back to, a live memory, or the part of the catalog you would point someone toward first.
