Death Is Not Glamorous formed in the early 2000s around singer Brian Southall, guitarist Todd Wisenbaker, bassist Micah Carlile, and drummer Jason Milbank. They spent their first years playing small shows in bars and warehouses, working through financial and personal difficulties while developing their sound.
Their debut album 'Assets' came out in 2006, with the title track becoming a notable song for them. The record's themes touched on addiction and loss, and Southall's direct lyrics about dark subjects drew both criticism and support from different listeners.
After 'Assets', they put out several more albums including 'No Blood, No Bones' in 2009, 'The Shadow Side' in 2012, and 'Elegies' in 2016. Their music shifted over these releases, moving from the raw approach of their early work into more developed territory.
