Débora Morais

Débora Morais came up in Rio de Janeiro, where she studied music as a teenager. Her debut album arrived in 2005, anchored by the title track 'Doce Amar,' a ballad that found an audience and helped establish her early on. The record mixed Brazilian rhythms with pop arrangements, a sound that became her initial calling card.

A few years later, in 2008, she got tangled in a public lawsuit over the rights to her music. The case dragged on, but she eventually came out of it and later spoke up about artists' rights. She followed her debut with other albums like 'Tempo de Sonhar' and 'Alma Brasileira,' and has worked with musicians including Caetano Veloso.
