Deeper Than That

Deeper Than That formed in the early 2000s with Ethan Grey as the vocalist and songwriter. Their debut album, 'A Moment of Happiness for a Life of Suffering,' came out in 2004 and gave the band some attention for its raw emotional tone. Grey's introspective lyrics shaped much of their sound, with songs like 'Dying To Live' and 'Living to Die...' circling themes of darkness and searching.

They released several more albums over the following decade, including 'Into the Abyss' in 2007 and 'The Weight of the World' in 2011. The band's lineup included guitarist Max Russo, bassist Jake Reyes, and drummer Sam Hill at various points, though Grey remained the constant creative center. Their music stayed within a particular vein of underground rock, avoiding broader commercial moves.

Grey's personal struggles with depression and substance abuse were often reflected in the band's work, which led to some criticism about glorifying self-destructive patterns. Tracks like 'Fogettin What Was Once Forgiven' and 'Roaming Through the Entanglements of The Human Consciousness' continued to explore heavy, internal territory. Their 2015 album 'Reflections' maintained this approach without significant stylistic shifts.
