Pretend

I laid in bed all day and waited for the Sun

Praying the rays would be enough to wake me up

I tried to tell myself that I was doing fine

Thought it was normal feeling low most of the time

But something wasn't right, I see it in my eyes

I've gone away again

Now I'm on the outside looking into my own life

But it doesn't feel like mine

I've gone away again

Now I'm on the outside witnessing

There's a stranger in my head

And she's telling me that I don't really know myself

While we work it out, I just pretend

I waited for the voice to tell me what to be

She filled my head with words I thought had come from me

And she sold me stories about fear and disbelief

I bought them all thinking that they might work for me

But something wasn't right, I see it in my eyes
