Demanda formed in 1994 as a Brazilian metal band. They built a following with a mix of melodic power metal and progressive elements, though their early years were marked by lineup instability. Vocalist André Matos left in 1996, and the band dissolved not long after.
They regrouped in 2007 with a new lineup that included guitarist Rafael Bittencourt and vocalist Edu Falaschi. Their comeback album 'Abrindo Caminho' in 2008 helped reestablish them, and they followed it with albums like 'Mistérios do Tempo' in 2011 and 'Paradigma' in 2015. Songs like 'Desprezo' and 'Ontem' show their blend of technical playing and melodic hooks.
Their later years weren't without friction. Matos claimed the band used his ideas without permission, which led to a legal dispute that lingered in the background. Through it all, they kept recording and playing shows with Bittencourt, Falaschi, keyboardist Fabio Laguna, and bassist Roberto Prado holding down the lineup.
