Dessamba Kudurista formed in Luanda around 2011, when three friends from the city's neighborhoods started making kuduro music together. Danilo Gomes, Jefferson Gomes, and Armando Jorge put out "Fica Aí" that year, a track that caught on locally with its quick rhythm and a hook people could dance to.
Their music stayed close to the sounds coming out of Luanda's streets, working with the fast percussion and electronic touches that defined kuduro at the time. They kept recording through the 2010s, putting out albums like "Ainda Aqui" in 2013 and "Kuduro Sem Fronteiras" in 2016.
By the end of the decade, they had released "Força Kudurista" and later "Evolução," staying with the style they started with while it spread to listeners outside Angola. The group's early track "Fica Aí" remained the song most people knew them by.
