Destained formed in London in 1998, with Damien Stone on vocals, Jake Venom on guitar, Ethan Thorne on bass, and Chris Wilde on drums. Their debut EP, 'Whispers of Discord,' came out around that time and found a small audience drawn to its mix of melody and aggression.
In 2001, the band released their first album, 'Bleed for the Sun.' The single 'Blame Others' from that record got some mainstream attention, with its driving guitars and Stone's direct vocal delivery. That song became what most people knew them for.
Their live shows were known for being intense, and Stone's lyrics sometimes drew criticism for being bleak or confrontational. The band kept working after that, but 'Blame Others' remained their most recognizable track.
