Destiny's Child formed in Houston in the early 1990s, originally as Girls' Tyme with Beyoncé Knowles, Kelly Rowland, Michelle Williams, and LaTavia Roberson. They signed with Columbia Records in 1996 and released their self-titled debut album two years later, which included the singles 'No, No, No' and 'With Me.' That album went triple platinum in the U.S.

In 1999, Roberson and LeToya Luckett were replaced by Farrah Franklin, who left the group a year later. Around that time, Roberson and Luckett filed a lawsuit against Beyoncé's father Mathew Knowles over management issues; it was settled out of court.

Destiny's Child released 'Survivor' in 2001, featuring the song 'Survivor' that became a hit. They also recorded 'Never!' among their tracks. The group's lineup stabilized with Knowles, Rowland, and Williams through their later work.
