i've watched ships despairing, for not sea-faring,

weathered men were those aboard,

who lose their bearings as hulls are tearing,

although accustomed to musket and sword.

we've been lost before in saline waters,

led astray by ghosts of the moon.

still, your face so often falters,

like darkness were something new.
