Archive material and source history
Devastation formed in Gothenburg, Sweden in 1988 with guitarist Peter Svensson, vocalist Patrik Johansson, bassist Ebbe Olsson, and drummer Fredrik Bäckström. They released their debut album 'No Way Out' in 1991, followed by records like 'Crucifixion' in 1994 and 'Idolatry' in 1998.
Bäckström died in a 1997 accident, and Olsson had left earlier in 1992, replaced by Jonas Kjellgren. The band continued with later albums including 'Songs of Damnation' in 2002. Their songs include 'Souls Of Sacrifice' and 'Legacy Of Faith'.
They've had lineup changes over time, with Svensson, Johansson, Kjellgren, and drummer Johan Bengtsson playing together in recent years.
