Archive material and source history
Deyvis Orosco grew up in Trujillo, Peru, where his father Johnny Orosco was a well-known cumbia musician. He started singing with his father's band, Orquesta Internacional, when he was sixteen. In 2005, he put out his first solo album, 'Deyvis Orosco, El Ídolo,' which included the track 'No Te Creas Tan Importante.'
That album and songs like 'Pecadora' helped establish him as a cumbia singer in Peru. He followed it with other albums, including 'Amor de mi Vida' in 2008. In 2014, there was some public discussion about similarities in his song 'El Ídolo' to another work, which led to an apology.
He has performed internationally and received recognition like the Premio APDAYC for Best Cumbia Artist. His music, including the song 'Y Te Vi,' continues to draw listeners to the genre his father helped popularize.
