Di Lara formed in Buenos Aires in 1982, with Patricia Sosa on vocals, Oscar Mediavilla on guitar, Carlos Villavicencio on keyboards, Guillermo Cappelletti on bass, and Daniel Colombres on drums. Their self-titled debut came out the following year. The band's second album, "Reina Aqui," gave them their biggest hit with the title track, a ballad that connected with listeners across Argentina.
Di Lara toured extensively during the 1980s, but internal tensions grew. Sosa and Mediavilla's personal relationship ended in 1986, which led to public disagreements. The band broke up in 1991. Afterward, Sosa pursued a solo career, and Mediavilla continued working in music.
