Archive material and source history
Di Lee formed in São Paulo in 1990 as a Brazilian pop band. Other songs like 'Matando Cachorro a Grito' and 'A Minha Namorada' also became familiar to Brazilian audiences.
The band's lineup has included Paulo Ricardo on vocals and guitar, Walter Villaça on guitar and vocals, Kiko Ferreira on bass, and Marcos Romera on drums. Paulo Ricardo left in 1994 for a solo career, and the band continued without him before reuniting in 2001. They broke up again in 2003 but reformed in 2009 and have continued performing.
In 1992, the band Titãs accused Di Lee of plagiarizing their song 'Epitáfio' with '200 Vezes Carol Eu Vou Dizer Te Amo,' a case that was settled out of court. Their performance at Rock in Rio in 2003 drew criticism for being too tame, though the band defended it as simply playing their music for fans.
