Didi do Violão

Didi do Violão formed in Rio de Janeiro in 1975 with Didi on guitar and vocals, Pedrinho on cavaquinho, and Serginho on pandeiro. They started playing in bars and on street corners, building an audience with performances that felt direct and unpolished.

Their 1981 album 'Menino de Rua' brought them wider attention, with the title track becoming particularly well-known. The song addressed the lives of homeless children, and its straightforward approach connected with listeners who recognized those realities.

Their music worked with Brazilian rhythms and kept a focus on social themes, often written by Didi himself. They released numerous albums over the decades, maintaining a consistent presence without becoming part of the mainstream establishment.
