Dídio Damião is a Brazilian band that formed in São Paulo in the early 1990s. The group was founded by singer and songwriter Dídio José Ferreira, who drew from samba and pagode traditions. They were joined by musicians including Claudio Barros on guitar, Leandro José on cavaquinho, and Luiz Fernando on pandeiro.
In 1993, the band released their debut album 'Só Alegria,' which included the song 'Dona do Meu Coração.' That track became their most recognizable work, reaching the top of Brazilian charts and receiving regular radio play. It also found audiences in Europe and Africa during the band's international tours.
Around 2003, Dídio Damião went through a lineup change when several original members left. Dídio José Ferreira continued leading the group through that period.
