Die Flippers

Die Flippers formed in 1964 with Bernd Hengst and Manfred Durban. They spent years playing festivals and small venues before finding their audience. Their 1971 single "Weine nicht, kleine Eva" became their first real hit.

Their song "Aber Dich gibt's nur einmal für mich" became something of a signature for them, along with tracks like "Angelina" and "California." The band's lineup shifted over time, with members like Olaf Malolepski and Frank Olivier joining at various points while Hengst and Durban remained constants.

In 1999, they faced plagiarism accusations over their song "Ich hab' dich noch immer lieb." The band kept performing through various changes, maintaining a presence in German music for decades without much of the dramatic arc that sometimes gets attached to their story.
