Dinorah formed in Caracas, Venezuela in 1951, originally called Los Cuatro Ases before taking the name Dinorah. The group included Julio Iglesias on vocals, Luis Cruz on guitar, and Emilio Santana on bass. They recorded their most famous song, "Lo Pensaré," which became a hit despite some legal disputes over the rights to it in 1959.
They released several albums in the early 1960s, including Enamorada in 1959, Dinorah in 1960, and Lo Pensaré in 1961. The band's sound centered around Iglesias's vocals and the group's harmonies, with "Lo Pensaré" becoming their signature ballad.
In 2016, Dinorah was inducted into the Latin Songwriters Hall of Fame. The song "Lo Pensaré" remains their best-known recording.
