Their debut album came out in 2004 and included the track "Fogo Em Roma," which drew attention for lyrics about political corruption and social injustice.
That song sparked debate in Brazil, with some seeing it as a voice for the oppressed and others criticizing it as inflammatory. The band faced censorship and threats but kept recording, putting out albums like "Destilando Veneno" in 2007 and "O Verbo Sanguinolento" in 2012.
Their music draws from Afro-Brazilian rhythms while incorporating rock, reggae, and funk elements. Other songs in their catalog include "Reforma Agrária," "Belém do Pará," "Carnaíba," and "Começo de tudo." They released "Axé Negra" in 2016.
